Pretty Meets Practical

Handmade pottery from Arizona

At Cheeky Clay, I create pottery that’s meant to be used and loved every day. Each piece strikes a balance—sturdy enough to feel like it belongs in your hands but slim and delicate enough to look sleek. While no two items are exactly alike, my collections always share a cohesive vibe, blending practicality with a splash of floral patterns or AZ inspired scenes.

Understand how my pottery is made.

  • Throw it.

I focus on making items that feel great to hold and use daily. Every piece has a purpose, from mugs to planters, but with a cheeky twist that brings a little joy to your routine.

  • Trim it.

I trim clean, satisfying bases that vary based on the piece—flat bottoms for stability on planters and cups, and raised bottoms for bowls and mugs to manage the heat.

  • Fire it.

After drying for about a week, pottery is bisque fired to cone 05. This allows me to use dipping glaze on pieces, though sometimes I do skip this step and single fire pots.

  • Glaze it.

My glaze choices range from playful, pop-inspired colors to moodier, dramatic finishes. Many designs feature vinyl stencil patterns—think mountains, flowers, or celestial scenes—that bring personality to each piece.

  • Finale Firing.

I fire in an electric kiln at cone 5, using speckled buff clay for its texture and warmth (with a little B-mix for variety).

  • Finish it.

Each piece is hand sanded, washed and oiled. Look out for my signature stamp: a cheeky peach in a thong!
